Black Limes 
Citrus aurantifolia

Citrus trees are indigenous to South East Asia, and the introduction of limes, which withstand hot conditions better than lemons, to the Middle East was probably by Turkish and Moorish invaders.
 
Black limes, loomi or dried limes are whole sun-dried limes and is a pantry staple in many Middle Eastern countries. They vary in color from pale tan to very dark brown. When broken open, remnants of black pith are revealed on the inside, and a pungent fermented citrus aroma is released.
 
Perhaps the best thing about limes is that it has the least amount of calories, carbs, and fats. Moreover, these black limes are rich in dietary fiber, antioxidants and flavonol glycosides like kaempferol.
