Guyanese Garam Masala
Garam Masala is the Indian word for a “hot” blend of dry-roasted ground spices. Garam masala comes from the Ayurvedic or Indian dietary philosophy, which recommends warm spices for warming the body. Garam masala can include cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, mace, and other spices. In authentic Indian cooking, it’s accompanied with curry powder for a more potent meal. Try using ours on roasted potatoes, omelets and fish.

I've been making this Garam Masala spice blend since I was a five-year-old in my native Guyana. Nothing has changed for this spice blend. Today, when I make it at home, I still use a masala brick (grinding stone) which is over 150 years old, brought from India by my great-great-grandmother. Our Masala blend works wonders in mash potatoes, baked fries, add a teaspoon to green bean casserole or any of your favorite vegetable.
