Plant Based Single Origin Spice
A member of the ginger family, Turmeric is a rhizome from a robust perennial native to Southern Asia. Madras turmeric is much darker in color, having a curcumin content that is high, making it a more effective color with excellent fresh turmeric flavor notes. Our Madras turmeric hails from Southern India, where much of this grade of turmeric is traded.
Throughout India and Southeast Asia and since antiquity, turmeric has been appreciated as a flavoring, a dye, medicine and valued in ritual and ceremonial occasions.
Our Madras turmeric more closely resembles the flavor of fresh turmeric as a somewhat earthy aroma and surprisingly delicate top notes of lemon and mint, reminiscent of its cousin ginger.
Fresh turmeric is crunchy; has gingery, citrus aromas and an agreeably earthy flavor with citrus overtones. Dried turmeric has a complex, rich, woody aroma with floral, citrus and ginger notes. The taste is slightly bitter and sour moderately pungent, warm and musky.
Comes in our signature airtight tin, which measures 2-1/2 inches in diameter and 1-3/4 inches in height.

The surprising health benefits of turmeric and curcumin include the ability to reduce inflammation. Rich in antioxidants, turmeric has great beauty benefits, as it helps keep your skin healthy in many ways. It keeps pimples at bay by inhibiting the growth of pimple-causing bacteria and reducing the oil secretion by the sebaceous glands. It helps accelerate the metabolism rate and lets your body burn more calories leading to weight loss.
In the kitchen, turmeric can be added to foods to offer deep flavors in many types of cuisines or to jazz up everyday meals. Add a teaspoon or two to foods including rice; mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables like butter beans, corn (golden corn) cauliflower and cabbages. Use liberally in tuna, and potato salad, yogurt dips, lentil soup, detox fruit shakes, protein shakes and any types of legumes and salad dressings.
Add to baked bread, cakes, protein bars, and cookies, it goes well with coconut but not limited to chicken, lentils, chutneys, relishes, soups and is a delight to the eyes when added rice pudding or crème Brulee- two of my favorites.
All of our Single–Origin herbs, spices, and handcrafted blends are the best way to add flavor to food for no extra calories, sugar, sodium, or other junk—which is critical to do when you're trying to lose weight or make that lifestyle shift towards wellness.
Why? It's pretty simple: Research shows that if you don't like the taste of what you eat, you're much less likely to stick to any diet, no matter how disciplined you are. Herbs and spices add a significant amount of flavor to food and can turn, for example, that piece of plain chicken or vegetable into a restaurant-worthy meal, thanks to just a little pinch and dash of herbs and spices.
All of our Single –Origin herbs, spices, and handcrafted blends are Zero Sodium, No Salt, No Sugar, No MSG, No Preservatives, No Fillers and Gluten Free- no other crap in them but pure herbs, spices and mindful loving.
